Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Bernice Watts, 90, of Hattiesburg, who passed away on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Hattiesburg. Burial followed in Improve Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Greg Medenwald and Rev. Darel Daniels officiated at the services. Kyle Smith provided special music. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, at Hathorn Funeral Home.

She was an LPN where she spent more than 40 years in the OBGYN department at Hattiesburg Clinic. She was loved dearly by her family but she especially had a great fondness for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, David Allen Watts; son, Chancey David Watts; father, Chancey Pittman; mother, Emma Turnage Pittman; four brothers, Ben Howard Pittman, Clint Pittman, Robert Henry Pittman and Elwood (Bull) Pittman; three sisters, Katie Ginn, Verda Stringer and Bess Iris Holland.
Survivors include her son, Stanley Allen Watts (Carla); daughter, Deedra Watts; seven grandchildren, Eli Watts (Brandy), Reuben Cody Watts, Sara Watts, Alli Watts, Anna Watts, Cameron Watts and Samantha Watts; two great-grandchildren, Avery Watts and Brooks (Donkey) Watts; a host of nephews, nieces and friends; and three sisters-in-law, Wanda Pittman, Billie Sue Pittman and Julia Pittman.
Pallbearers were Eli Watts, Cody Watts, Brooks Watts, Whitney Johnson, Hunter Douglas, Chad Hill, Dr. Jason Fisher and Chris Hatten. Honorary pallbearers were Vernon Watts, Dr. Donald Townsend and Larry Pittman.
