Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Betty Darr Stringer, 77, of Foxworth, who passed away on Friday, Jan. 3. Burial followed in Lott Cemetery in Foxworth. Dr. Jerry Watts officiated at the services. Reuben McDowell provided special music. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was a longtime resident of Marion County. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leroy Stringer; son, Stephen Ashley Stringer; parents, Allen and Lucy Darr; two brothers, Charles “Buddy" Darr and George "Sonny" Darr; and four sisters, Patsy Taylor, Mary Allen Darr, Joe Ann Franklin and Barbara Sue Darr.
Survivors include her two sons, Anthony Stringer (Jennifer) of Sumrall and Seth Stringer of Calera, Ala.; two brothers, John Darr (Kiok) and Donald Darr; two sisters, Pansy Peavy (Shelton) and Linda Taylor (Weldon Goldman); two grandchildren, Carson Stringer and Austin Stringer; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Austin Stringer, Carson Stringer, Cecil Parker, Clayton Dykes, Troy Dykes and Weldon Goldman.
