Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, in Woodlawn Cemetery for Carol Seymour, 78, of Foxworth, who passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, at her residence in Foxworth. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, at Colonial Funeral Home.
She received a Master of Education, had a long fulfilling career as an educator and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Columbia.
She was an avid and accomplished gardener, who loved her dogs, cats and her books. She impacted many young people during her 38 years of teaching at West Marion schools. Her family and friends knew her as kind and gracious. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Seymour; and parents, Edwin McDowell and Ida Bond Holmes.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Seymour of Columbia; sister, Milli McDowell of Ocean Springs; niece, Amy Jackson; nephew, Tom Iverson (Emily); and great-nephews, Will Jackson, Cooper Iverson and Bennett Iverson.
Pallbearers were Tom Iverson, Will Jackson, Cooper Iverson, Bennett Iverson, Drew Broom, Eddie Broom and Jamie McAllister.
