Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Carolyn Elaine Boyles, 74, of Columbia, who passed away on Sunday, Nov. 24. Burial followed in Foxworth Cemetery. Rev. Reed Houston officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
Maw Carol, as she was affectionately known by family, was a longtime resident of Marion County. She worked in the cafeteria at Marion General Hospital and several years at the West Marion Primary School. She never met a stranger and was a “people person.” Her welcoming spirit always extended an open door for people in her home, her church or any other place in her life. A longtime member of Kokomo Baptist Church, she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her father, William O. Moody; and one brother, Alan Duane Moody.
Survivors include her son, William Clay Boyles of Columbia; daughter, Sharon Kuykendall (Mike) of Columbia; mother, Ruby Lee Johnston Moody of Columbia; five grandchildren, Kayla Hill (Steven), Brandan Barber and Amber Barber, all of Columbia, Meranda Terry (Chris) of Kokomo and Braylon Boyles of Lexington, Ohio; two brothers, William Earl Moody of Texas and Thomas Oliver Moody (Elaine) of Foxworth; one sister, Elizabeth Moody Thompson (Larry) of Byram; seven great-grandchildren, Cadence Terry and Mikah Terry, both of Kokomo, and Weston Hill, Brayleigh Barber Melanie Polk Holden Hill and Layla Barber, all of Columbia.
Pallbearers were Shawn Moody, Mikah Terry, Cadence Terry, Steven Hill, Brandan Barber and Chris Terry.
