Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home for Carrie Vandel Forbes Taylor, 89, of Tylertown, who passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, at her residence. Burial followed in the Hurricane Creek Cemetery in Sandy Hook. Rev Billy “Skeeter” Toney Vasilion officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home.
She was born on Friday, July 13, 1934, in Marion County. She loved to travel, read books and spend time with her beloved friends, family and pets.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Rankin Taylor Sr.; son, Jerry Rankin Taylor Jr.; father, Elbert Forbes; mother, Clara Herring Forbes; brothers, Frank Forbes, Jonas Forbes and Lyndell Forbes; sisters, Myrtle Brumfield, Loleda Pope, Peggy Jones, Kate Ellzey, Dimple Cumpton and June Mitchell.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Taylor Rushing (James Elbert); grandson, Heath Alford; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Pallbearers were Heath Alford, Larry Adams, Mitch Barnett, Clayton Dykes, Fred Mitchell and Frank Forbes.
