Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church for Diane Pittman, 73, of Sandy Hook, who unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, Dec. 23, in Columbia. Burial followed in Hurricane Creek Cemetery. Rev. Curtis Roland officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church.
She was a lifelong resident of Marion County and worked with Trustmark Bank for many years. She was a graduate of West Marion High School and voted “Most Beautiful” her senior year. She was a kind and sweet lady with a wonderful sense of humor. She was a great cook and loved her family and her many friends. She was a member of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church and was a woman of faith who devoted much of her time to her church, her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Pittman; son, Brad Pittman; father, J.L. Dunaway; and brother, John Kenneth Dunaway.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Tiffany Pittman of Hattiesburg; mother, Helen Dunaway; and sisters, Liz Garner (Bo) and Debbie Smith (L.D.), both of Foxworth.
Pallbearers were Garath Fortenberry, Grant Grisham, Todd Dixon, Nate Stafford, Derrick Jerkins and Dewayne Ervin. Honorary pallbearers were Bo Garner and John Garner.
