Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Moore Purvis Chapel for Don Edward Campbell, 86, of Purvis, who passed away on Sunday, Feb. 23, in Hattiesburg. Burial followed in Bay Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday, March 1, at Moore Purvis Chapel.

He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and an active affiliate of Bay Creek Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He began his career in the Baxterville Oil field, working as a roustabout. After 43 years, he retired as a production foreman for other oil companies. He also was the owner and operator of Campbell Lease Service. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening. Along with his wife, Dolly, he was a member of the American Daylily Society and the Hattiesburg Region 14 Daylily Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Dimple Bounds Campbell; and his parents, Jimmy and Nina Mae Campbell.
Survivors include his daughters, Danita Summers (Chet) of Purvis and Drudy Sullivan (Kevin) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Drew Summers (Jennifer) of Purvis, and Kyle Sullivan (Christina), Kellen Sullivan and Katelyn Sullivan, all of Houston, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Emma Sullivan, Hunter Summers, Abigail Sullivan, Amelia Grace Summers, Christopher Sullivan and Liza Kate Summers; brother-in-law, Joe Bounds (Neva) of Purvis; and nieces, Amy Chabert and Keri Jo Ford of Purvis.
