Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home for Frances Ramshur, 80, of Columbia, who passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, at her home where she was a lifelong resident. Burial followed in Good Hope Cemetery. Bro. Johnny Williams and Bro. Stan Bennett officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, at Colonial Funeral Home.
Even though she worked various jobs in her younger years, including driving a school bus and employment at Rutter-Rex, she enjoyed life primarily as a homemaker caring for her family. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vester Ramshur Jr.; parents, Preston Wooten and Olivia Broom Wooten; sisters, Bonnie Bullock and Brenda Cox; and brothers, Carl Ray Wooten and Danny Wooten.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Pierce (Kenneth), Cathy Ramshur Seal, Jeannie Bennett (Stan) and DeLana Ramshur, all of Columbia; sisters, Ernestine Leggett of Seminary, Ann Green of Hattiesburg, Patsy Butler of Atlanta, Ga., and Tammy Wooten of Columbia; brother, Charlie Wooten of Foxworth; seven grandchildren, Pamela Pierce, Caryn Burkett (Travis), Chad Seal, Justin Pierce, Josh Bennett (Kaitlynn), Tyler Broom (Taylor) and Tanner Broom; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Leggett, Vic Green, Jayson Hudson, Don Ramshur, Layton Munk and Patrick Smith.
