Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Garrick Dean Griner, 51, of Columbia, who passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, at his residence. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Bro. Paul Neal officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services on Sunday, Dec. 29, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
He was a man of many talents and passions. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, always seeking adventure in the great outdoors. He possessed a sharp wit and a contagious sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
Known for his "fix-it-all" spirit, he was always willing to lend a hand and could tackle any challenge, from home repairs to mechanical fixes. He dedicated many years of his life to the long-haul trucking industry, traversing the country and experiencing the open road.
He cherished his furry companions, finding solace and companionship in his beloved cats and his loyal dog, Rufus. Above all, he cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by his family and his extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Brad Allen Griner.
Survivors include his father, Mernice Dean Griner; mother, Patricia Ann Stuckey Griner; three children, Brant Dean Griner (Renee), Katie Nichole Griner and Chaz Lee; two brothers, Michael Dean Griner (Janie) and Kenneth Edward Griner (Glenda); sister, Rebecca Diane McFadden (Jonathan); three grandchildren, Carson Griner, McKenzie Griner and Layton Griner; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Pallbearers were Mike Griner, Ken Griner, Chaz Lee, Ethan Aultman, Jake Aultman, Prestin Parkman and Spencer McFadden.
