Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the services on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Colonial Funeral Home.
She was a devoted wife and mother who worked hard for her family. She ran a dairy farm with her husband for over 20 years and taught at Hub High School (HomeEc), West Marion Elementary and the Columbia Training School, retiring after 14 years. She was talented with a needle, creating beautiful clothes and embroidery shared with family members. She captured her best world with photographs of family, grandchildren and nature and gifted us with pictures of treasured memories. She was an active member in the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Columbia. She also took karate for a while and could do karate kicks even in her very late years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Yager; parents, Worth and Sarah “Sadie” Bass Tullos; sisters, Jane Kloman and Rosa “Connie” Amberson; and brothers, Olouse Tullos, Cassell Tullos and Ronald Mack Tullos.
Survivors include her daughters, Julia Gaye Sculthorpe (Bruce) of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Lisa Yager (Mike Novinski) of Columbia and Rebecca Ellis (Paul) of Mt. Olive; grandchildren, Helen Sculthorpe, Cory Ellis, Sarahanne Ellis, Seth Ellis, Mica Novinski and Worth Novinski; great-grandson, Eric Ellis; sister, Sarah Hutto; and brothers, John Lee Tullos, Rex Tullos and Tim Tullos.
