Jane Stringer
80, Foxworth
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at the New Hope Baptist Church for Jane Stringer, 80, of Foxworth, who passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, Oct. 29, in the comfort of her home. Burial followed in Lott Cemetery. Her pastor, Dr. Jerry Watts officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday, Nov. 2, at New Hope Baptist Church.
She graced our presence for 80 years. She was born to Iva Berry Rowell and Cauley Eli Rowell, the last of four children. She was a homemaker and worked for years at Citizens Bank of Columbia. After retirement, she devoted her time as a bus driver and teacher’s assistant at Columbia Academy, where her children and grandchildren attended school.
She enjoyed spending time with family, showing her Tennessee walking horse “Silver Masterpiece,” studying her Bible, reading and gardening. She was a virtuous and godly woman that served her Lord and Savior at New Hope Baptist Church in Foxworth. She was devoted to her family whom she loved deeply. She was always willing to help anyone in need and was truly grateful for her blessings. She was a woman of resilience and strength, never wavering, even in her last days on this earth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Col. Jimmy Stringer; and brothers, Paul B. Rowell and Harry K. Rowell.
Survivors include her children, Rhonda Jo Stringer and Jimmy “Jason” Stringer (Renee); sister, Ellen Breland; five grandchildren; Kelli Jo McMurry (Jesse), Kassidy Ginn (Haley), Kady Ginn Bourn, Jas Stringer (Natalie) and Jay Stringer; three bonus granddaughters, Julie Stiles (Brad), Meghan Bullock and Sarah Bullock; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and devoted friend, Theresa McKenzie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to Merit Health Wesley and Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care she received.
Pallbearers were Kassidy Ginn, Kyle Ginn, Jesse McMurry, Cody McMurry, Jas Stringer and Jay Stringer. Honorary pallbearers were Kyle Breland, Kevin Breland, Kent Breland, Kris Breland, Burt Rowell, Steve Rowell, Corey McCain, Brandon Breland, Brandon Rowell, Eli Rowell and Kent Rowell.
