Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, Edna Baptist Church for Jennings Earl Reid, 75, of Columbia, who died on Monday, Sept. 25, at his home surrounded by his family. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, in Oaklawn Cemetery. Rev. Kenny Peavey officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday, Sept. 28, at Edna Baptist Church.
He was born on July 22, 1948, in Centreville to the late Earl and Lorene Reid. He was a graduate of William Winans Attendance Center and Hinds Jr. College.
He was a member of Pipeliner’s Union 798 where he and his brothers worked on construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline. After returning to Mississippi, he led a lifelong career devoted to farming, wildlife, cattle and land management.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Spillman Reid; three daughters, Tara Kinchen (Stephen), Amy Sanders (Rich Newman) and Shelli Felder (Darren); sister, Stacey Reid Duke; two brothers, Marlin Reid (Treva) and Kem Reid (Sharon); grandchildren: Austin Sanders (Michaela Boyd), Riley Sanders, Eliza Felder, Molli Rae Kinchen and Miles Felder; and two great grandchildren, Brody Sanders and Zoey Morgan.
Pallbearers were Stephen Kinchen, Darren Felder, Rich Newman, Austin Sanders, Riley Sanders and Miles Felder.
In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
Newman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
