A private graveside service will be held in Odom Cemetery in Richton for John E. Carroll, 63, of Columbia, who passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
He was born in Columbia to Nona Bowles Carroll and William “Bill” Carroll, Jr. where he remained a lifelong resident. He worked in his family’s business, Sav-On-Drugs, as a pharmacy technician and business manager for over 40 years. He had many hobbies and interests.
Most notably was his love for clocks of all kinds and the hundreds that he collected over time. He also enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together and many of his framed works of art are displayed around the store and his home. He had a very giving nature and would help anyone who had a need. He will be remembered for his gregarious personality, his great sense of humor and that big smile.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Carroll, Jr., and sister, Rhonda Holmes.
Survivors include his mother, Nona Carroll; two sisters, Deborah McDaniel (Donnie) and Ann Lewis (Tim); brother, Jamie Carroll (Art Cook); and several nieces and nephews.
