Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at Columbia Presbyterian Church for Laura Mae Ball, 91, of Columbia, who passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Hunter Nicholson officiated at the services.
She was a true southern lady through and through. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She lived a beautiful life of 91 years, and she loved serving her family along with her church family at Columbia Presbyterian Church. Some of her hobbies included sewing, quilt making, reading and cooking for all those that would come by.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Jasper Boyd; mother, Laura Russell Boyd; one brother, Robert Henry Boyd; one great-granddaughter, Laura Kate Ball.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Herbert I. Ball Jr.; four children, Herbert Russell Ball (Kathy), Bobby Ball (Lula), Angela Ball and William O’ Neil Ball (Cindy); one sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Pierce Rowell; nine grandchildren, Jesse Ball, Anna Porter (Ross), Jonathan Ball (Lindsay), Benjamin Ball (Katie), Chris Ball, William Ball (Gina), Jordan Ball, Andrew Ball (Sarah), Brandon Ball and a number of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Ball, Benjamin Ball, Jesse Ball, William Ball, Jordan Ball, Andrew Ball and Brandon Ball.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Columbia Presbyterian Church or the French Camp Academy.
