55, Columbia
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel for Lawanda “Lou” Boudreaux, 55, of Columbia, who died on Oct. 2, in her hometown of Columbia. Burial followed in Good Hope Cemetery. Rev. Ralph Sanford officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, at Colonial Funeral Home.
Her battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges with grace, dignity and a healthy dose of stubbornness. Despite her recent struggles, she always had a bright smile for everyone.
She was born on Feb. 11, 1968, in Columbia to John “Buster” Powell and Emily Louise Powell. She was a native to Columbia and attended Columbia High School. She worked as a manager in the food industry around the county and especially enjoyed talking to and meeting new people at her work. She loved her last job at the East Marion Cafeteria, calling all the children her babies. She married the love of her life, Dewayne Boudreaux, and they had two wonderful boys, John and Jacob.
To know her was to love her. She never met a stranger. She had a marvelous personality and was loved by many. She loved all her family deeply. She was the most supportive friend and family member. She was always there cheering the loudest in the front row for you. She loved arts and crafts and was very artistic. She loved music and passed that love down to her sons, nieces and great nephew. She enjoyed a good party and loved decorating. She always went all out for everything! She will be deeply missed, and there will be no one on Earth like her again.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Douglas “Buster” Powell; and sisters, Betty Stewart and Carolyn Graham.
Survivors include her husband, Dewayne Boudreaux; sons, John Boudreaux and Jacob Boudreaux; mother, Emily Powell; sisters, Peggy Ray (Edward) and Lela Smith (Rickey); and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers were Kevin Waldrup, Stephen Burge, Jonathan Glover, Wyatt Burge, William Hart and Landon King. Honorary pallbearer was Karter Glover.
