Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2024, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Columbia for Sebastian R. Acosta, 25, of Foxworth, who passed away on Sunday, May 19. Burial followed in Pine Grove Pentecostal Church Cemetery in Foxworth. Father Stan Fornea officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Monday, May 27, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
He was born in Honduras and raised in Lafayette, La. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from William Carey University where he also played soccer. He was not only a dedicated athlete but also a hardworking and selfless individual. He was generous and always willing to put others’ needs before his own. He had a very special bond with each and every member of his family.
Sebastian’s life, though short, was filled with love, laughter and a profound sense of purpose. He touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on our hearts. His legacy is one of kindness that never wavered. He approached life with a level of kindness and empathy that is truly inspiring.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Modesto and Telma Acosta and Jose M. and Ruth E. Reina.
Survivors include both sets of parents, Dennie and Renee Rials and Ricardo Antonio Acosta (Lourdes); seven siblings, Mario Acosta (Alejandra), Lawayne Rials, Lashae Lima (Michael), Diego Acosta (Tatiana), Isabella Acosta, Andrea Acosta and Pili Medal; four nephews, Santiago Acosta, Isidore Acosta, Maverick Lima and Salvatore Cracchiolo; three nieces, Camilla Acosta, Lakyn Lima and Leilani Lima.
Pallbearers were Diego Acosta, Lawayne Rials, Chris Carter, Jonathan Popwell, Brandon Pere, Joey McCan and Dustin Padget.
