I wish to express my opinion concerning the Mississippi Department of Transportation replacing the two bridges on 198 that just reopened.
Plans are to replace them during the next couple of years.
It is my opinion it is more urgent to replace the lower bridge on U.S. 98 that crosses the Pearl River.
As I said before, all three bridges are well over 66 years old, and I don’t know of anything that has been done to the lower bridge over the Pearl in my lifetime. I was raised on Old Foxworth Road across from the recycling plant behind Pope’s Tire Shop, so I know firsthand because I have always lived in Columbia all my 66 years.
