Dear Editor,
As a longtime resident of Columbia, I feel that I should express my support of the 3 percent sales tax for hotels and prepared food. As many of you know, one of my favorite things to do is to support our local youth in their sporting events. I enjoy seeing the development of young people and see them improve over the years in their skills with various sports.
Many times I have seen a child that had a difficult home life become involved in sports and have it be a life-changing event. I’ve seen youth become more confident, gain self-esteem and many times be able to attend college because of their athletic skills.
With the passage of this referendum, we will be able to provide expanded and improved recreational facilities to continue to invest in the young people.
Please consider supporting this opportunity to invest in the youth of our community and vote FOR the 3 percent on Monday, May 6.
