Dear Editor,
Having lived in Columbia 30-plus years, I must say, these celebrations downtown have topped them all this year. To all of those home and business owners who spruced up, renovated or just cleaned up, thank you! Every improvement made has been seen, enjoyed and appreciated by others.
We stand in awe of the Christmas festivities, and to all who gave of their time, energy, financial backing, we sincerely thank you for making this the most thrilling Christmas for young and old alike.
Thank you especially to our mayor, Justin McKenzie, who gets personally involved in every endeavor to improve our city. To our Main Street Director Nik Ingram and all of his volunteers, as well as Kristian Agoglia and his wife, Yolanda, who spearheaded this splendid effort, backed up by a beautifully organized group of volunteers – all dressed for the holidays – we salute you and all of your efforts.
We all loved Carlton Thornhill and the fun experience on the Columbia trolley.
This holiday extravaganza brought thousands to our town, who will take home such fond memories, and this excitement and positive atmosphere will help bring new people and businesses to Columbia, as well as enliven old ones to be recharged for 2019.
Indeed, we may well bring back our mantra of many years ago, “Columbia, City of Charm on the River Pearl.” We all look forward with great anticipation to the plans for the celebration of Columbia’s 200th year, “Beyond 200!”
