The Greeks had numerous gods and many myths that surrounded them. Greek Mythology consists of all the stories and tales about the Greek gods, goddesses, and heroes. It is also the religion of Ancient Greece as the Greeks built temples and offered sacrifices to their major gods. Some examples of gods and goddesses include Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Apollo, Athena, Achilles, and many more. Stacey Turnage, the librarian at CES, has created a project for students in which they chose a Greek myth and researched information on them. Students were allowed to work in groups of two or three and were asked to create an art project along with a writing component of their god/goddess based on what they thought they looked like. They could choose from the story of Pandora’s box, Achilles, Aracne, Athena, and Medusa. This project was not taken for a grade, but students were still expected to do their best. All students were allowed to use books and the internet to find their information. Students were allowed to use kid-friendly internet sites to complete their research. This project was helpful to students because they learned some interesting parts of history and also learned how to work in groups together without arguing.
