The historic Coal Town Cemetery located on Coal Town Road, northeast of Purvis, is one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in Lamar County, Mississippi. The first known burial is that of an Infant Entrekin interred in 1887 with the number of recorded burial sites now exceeding 2,700.
