Downtown Treats in the Streets, Oct. 31
A gathering of ghosts, ghouls, princesses, superheros and any other cute, weird or scary things. We would love to have some of our local churches involved to spread the love to our neighbors. Marked Tattoos will be joined by the Marion County Regional Library, First Southern Bank, the Junktion, Flower Shop on Church, Columbia Fire Dept., Church on Main, the Vines and Order of the Confederate Roses. We are hoping the local businesses will be able to get involved this year. Last year about 3,500 to 4,000 people came out for a great family event. The costume contest will be held at the Flower Shop on Church and will include a pet costume category also. The streets will be blocked off for our children’s safety.

You can get involved by giving out the hotline number (601) 684-9111 to a lady in an abusive or crisis situation, make a tax deductible donation or monthly pledge to support or expand the WINGS ministry, make donations of gently used furniture, appliances, household items and clothing, volunteer at the WINGS Thrift Stores or have your church or organization get involved by providing welcome boxes for clients.

Alcoholics Anonymous now meets at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1300 Church St. Friday is an open meeting at 7 p.m. and Sunday is a closed meeting at 8 a.m.
