He was born June 11, 1926, in Walthall County to Jessie and Pearlie Magee Brumfield and graduated from Marion-Walthall School in the Darbun community. After serving in the United States Navy, he was a dairy farmer for over 50 years. As an active member of Magee’s Creek Baptist Church, he served in various roles including deacon. Also, he was very proud serving others as a Mason and a Shriner.
As an avid Rook player, he was a faithful member of the Darbun Rook Club for over 30 years. Participating in and attending sporting events was one of his greatest joys. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren could depend on his attendance and compassionate support at their sporting events. He was their biggest fan.
Above everything else, he loved his family. Carl and his wife of 45 years, Carolyn, were the family’s foundation. Their true love and commitment to each other and to others made an example for all to follow. During his declining years, his loving wife devoted herself tirelessly and cared for him unwaveringly. He took his role as patriarch to heart. He enjoyed spending time at family gatherings, playing games, celebrating holidays, and traveling to see loved ones. Carl loved his family and friends dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris Brumfield; his parents; sisters, Sarah Daughtry and Margaret Buckley and brother, Carey Brumfield.
