Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Cory Wayne Patterson, 31, of Columbia, who died on Thursday, Dec. 21. Burial followed in Improve Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Brian Stewart officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
A longtime resident of Marion County, he loved his family and his son, Kaden, very deeply. He loved spending his time fishing and on the water. He attended Columbia Academy, where he played basketball. His team won the South State title his senior year in 2004. He worked several years on a tugboat and in the pipeline industry. Not only does he leave behind a son and many family members that he loved very much, but also a precious friend, Ms. Charlie Magee, who will miss him daily.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Neale Patterson.
Survivors include his parents, Greg and Kim Patterson; one son, Kaden Patterson; one brother, Dustin Patterson; one sister, Jami Patterson; three grandparents, Linda Patterson, Carolyn Bryant and Charles Bryant, and numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Cole Fornea, Blake Fornea, Derrick Bell, Brandon Bell, Kody Anderson and Tyler Bass. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Williamson and Keith Patterson.
