Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Colonial Funeral Home for Dorothy Garner Pittman, 73, of Columbia, who died on Saturday, Jan. 6, at her residence. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Todd Sumrall officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday, Jan. 11, at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Columbia, she was a hairstylist and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Lynn Darr; parents, J.B. and Maxine Garner; sister, Mary Bailey, and brothers, David Garner and Doyle Garner.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Pittman of Columbia; daughter, Melissa Stoetzner (Bobby) of Columbia; two sons, George Darr Jr. (Cindy) of Columbia and Michael Darr of Astoria, N.Y.; two sisters, Glenda Miller of Sandy Hook and Tracie Lightsey of Columbia; brother, Joseph Garner (Kim) of Schaneville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Joshua Darr, Devin Boyd, Tiffany Ray, Jared Ray, Isaac Stoetzner and Erin Stoetzner, and three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Boyd, Jaxin Darr and James Myrick.
