Funeral services were held on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Harmony Baptist Church for Fred Kent Hutto Sr., 77, of Crystal Springs, who died on Friday, Jan. 19, in Jackson. Burial followed in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and on Thursday, Jan. 25, at Harmony Baptist Church in Crystal Springs.
He was born in Columbia in 1940. His parents were the late Alvin G. Hutto Sr. and Inez Sterling Hutto. He was a former resident of Indianola and moved to Jackson in 1993. He served the Lord as a Southern Baptist minister from 1959 until present where he was on staff at Harmony Baptist Church in Crystal Springs. He served as pastor and staff worker for eight different churches and was a youth evangelist for three years. He was an author and founder of “The Pattern Ministry.” He was a kind and loving man of God who gave his life to serving others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Bette Braswell Hutto; daughter, Rebecca Diane Weir; brother W.C. “Dub” Burns, and sister, Princess M. Robertson.
Survivors include his sons, Fred K. Hutto Jr. (Karen) of Clinton, and Michael D. Hutto (Ligia) of Ocean Springs; daughter, Ramona Lynn Austin (Rick) of Clinton; siblings, Alvin Gurney Hutto Jr. (Gail) of Columbia and Alice J. McDaniel of Lenoir City, Tenn.; three precious grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
