Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at Goss Baptist Church for Glenda R. Duncan, 55, of Columbia, who passed away on Thursday, Jan. 25, in Jackson. Burial followed in Society Hill Cemetery. Bro. Ralph Sanford and Bro. Mark McArthur officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, and from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Sunday, Jan. 28, at Goss Baptist Church.
As a life-long resident of Marion County, Glenda was a committed caregiver to her mother and a homeschool teacher to two of her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, known especially for her chicken and dumplings. Glenda loved flowers, hunting, fishing and sewing. She adopted every stray animal she came across. She was a long-time member of Goss Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for years in the nursery department. She deeply loved her Lord and her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glyn Robertson.
Survivors include her mother, Ernese Robertson of Columbia; husband of 37 years, Mike Duncan of Columbia; two sons, William Duncan (Jennifer) of Columbia and Bryan Cooper (Roxy) of Texas; one daughter, Sarah Temples (Brian) of Columbia; two sisters, Carol Jean Everitt (Purvis) of Pelahatchie and Beverly Pritchard (Buddy) of Madison; four grandchildren, Tyler Duncan, Bell Duncan, Tate Temples and Nathan Duncan, all of Columbia; a number of nieces and nephews and many babies from the Goss Baptist Church nursery.
Pallbearers were Brad Duncan, Randy Duncan, Doug Duncan, Jared Everitt, Brian Everitt and Dylan Pritchard. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Broom, Tyler Duncan, Tate Temples and Nathan Duncan.
