A celebration of life service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at First Pentecostal Church of Sumrall for Houston Hibley, 65, of Sumrall, who died peacefully surrounded by family at home on Oct. 31, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Burial followed at First Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from
5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at First Pentecostal Church of Sumrall.
His life was one of dedicated hard work, honesty, integrity, selflessness and a deep love for his faith, family, and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved his time hunting and fishing. His memory will be honored as we carry on his many selfless acts of service for others.
Houston was born Nov. 10, 1951, in Columbia to Willis D. and Ottie Hibley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis D. and Ottie Hibley, and wife, Maedell Whitehead Hibley.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Gatwood Hibley of Sumrall; two sons, Michael Hibley (Sheil) and Jeffery Sanford (Erin); four daughters, Kelli Hibley, Marlena Shaw (Jamie), Miranda Claburn (Wes) and Mary Ann Pace (Justin), and 11 grandchildren.
