Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Irene Ryals Fornea, 57, of Foxworth, who passed away on Thursday, Oct. 5, in Columbia. Interment followed in Turnage Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Daniel Smith and Bro. Samuel Foxworth officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
As a lifelong resident of Marion County, Irene had deep love for her family and her Lord. As a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Church of God, Irene shared her faith frequently and loved reading her Bible, especially the Book of Psalms. She made regular visits to see the residents at the local nursing homes. She had many adopted grandchildren that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, James W. Ryals; brother, James "Buddy" Ryals and one nephew, Darren Todd Ryals.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Terry Fornea of Foxworth; mother, Hazel Ryals of Columbia; two sisters, Ilene S. Pounds and Maxine Foxworth (Sammy), both of Foxworth; two brothers, Eugene Ryals (Sheila) and Darryl Ryals (Janet) of Foxworth and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
