Funeral services were held at noon on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at Colonial Funeral Home for Marion Battles Murphree, 95, of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, in Columbia. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Dr. Bryant Barnes officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Monday, Feb. 26, Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of McAlester, Okla., she was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church Columbia where she taught the five year old children’s Sunday school class for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Murphree; daughter, Patricia Robertson; son, Ronald Murphree; parents, S.O. and Ruth Battles, and brother, Richard Battles.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Sean Robertson, Ethan Murphree and Gareth Murphree (Emily); and two great-grandchildren, Ellie Murphree and Charlotte Murphree.
