Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Mary Lee Stuckey, 92, of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in her home surrounded by family that she dearly loved. Burial followed in Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She will be missed greatly by her family including 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and so many dear friends. All who knew her felt her love and genuine sincerity and joy for life. She lived her life to the fullest! Not a day went by that she did not serve somebody in one way or another.
She loved cooking a good hot meal for everyone to enjoy. She baked the most scrumptious pound cakes, Del Monica Nut Cake, pumpkin bread, peanut butter cookies and various pies and cobblers of all kinds. There was not a fruit or vegetable that she didn’t pick, “look”, cook or can! She also enjoyed cross stitching beautiful tablecloths and pillow cases.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Edward Stuckey; mother, Ida May Prine; father, Robert E. Gill; daughter, Mary Diane Broom; son, Charles Edward Stuckey; sister, Evelyn Gill of Silver Creek, and brothers; Robert Gill of New Mexico, Joe Gill of Iowa, Willie Ray of Louisiana and Charlie Gill and Billy Gill, both of Silver Creek, and grandson, Brad Griner of Columbia.
Survivors include her sister, Jewel Bryant of Silver Creek; daughter, Patricia Ann Griner of Columbia, and son, Jackie Stuckey of Columbia.
Pallbearers were Anthony Broom, grandson, of Carriere; Ken Griner, grandson, of Hattiesburg; Jonathan McFadden, grandson-in-law of Hattiesburg; Benjamin McFadden, great-grandson, of Hattiesburg; Orry Sanders, grandson-in-law, of Hattiesburg and Ben Stewart, grandson-in-law, of Hattiesburg.
