A private family graveside service was held on Saturday, June 6, 2020, in Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery for Bert Lydell Davis, 94, of Orange, Texas, who passed away peacefully to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 3 in Texas.

He was born in Alexandria, La., on Jan. 8, 1926, to William Clyde Davis Sr. and Estelle Duggar Davis. He was raised in Port Acres, Texas, graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School.

He joined the United States Navy at the age of 18 and served as a medic aboard the U.S.S. Belleau Wood in the Pacific Fleet. After the war, he married his childhood sweetheart, Beverly Brunson Davis, in 1947. He was a graduate of Lamar Junior College. He retired from E.I. DuPont, Sabine River Works in 1984 after 34 years of service.

He preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents, Estelle and William Davis Sr.; one sister, Evelyn Davis, and one brother, William Clyde Davis Jr.

Survivors include his four daughters, Linda Foil of Kokomo, Karen Owens (Rev. Forrest “Bo”) of Hemphill, Texas, Sheree Benoit (David) of Bridge City, Texas, and Lori Freeman (Bruce) of Warren, Texas; one brother, James R. Davis of Port Arthur, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Claybar Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
