Obituary: Huey Duncan

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Bunker Hill Baptist Church for Huey Duncan, 84, of Columbia, who passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Burial followed in New Bunker Hill Cemetery. Rev. Randy Gardner, Rev. Brian Stewart and Will Jordan officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2 at Bunker Hill Baptist Church.

He was born in Columbia where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a welder and worked for many years with Stringer Oil Field Services. He was a longtime member of Bunker Hill Baptist Church. He will be remembered for the enjoyment that he found in woodworking and after his retirement, he spent countless hours in his shop creating various items to give to people he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Elma Duncan; three brothers, Wesley Duncan, Byron Duncan and Charles Duncan, and a daughter-in-law, Glenda Duncan.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sherriell Duncan; five children, Brad Duncan (Sherrie), Randy Duncan (Robin), Mike Duncan (Monica), Doug Duncan (Teresa) and Dianne Broom (Mark); four sisters, Doris Ward, Joyce (Elton) Raby, Catherine Moore and Joan Stewart (Waddell); 11 grandchildren, Jay Duncan (Tammy), Laurie Duncan, Danielle Cook (John), Donald Mullen (Kelly), Dustin Mullen (Rachel), William Duncan (Jennifer), Sarah Temples (Brian), Josh Broom (Skylar), Jessica Simmons (Wes), Corey Duncan and Hayley Blansett (James), and 26 great-grandchildren, Cade Duncan, Carli Duncan, Jayden Duncan, Laleigh Duncan, Duncan Cook, Dawson Cook, Devin Cook, Fisher Mullen, Sawyer Mullen, Silas Mullen, Austin Davis, Ethan Davis, Hannah Davis, McKinley Mullen, Liam Mullen, Lane Gaines, Bell Duncan, Nathan Duncan, Tyler Duncan, Tate Temples, Winston Broom, Vivian Simmons, Lucille Simmons, Isabel Simmons, JonConnor Blansett and Harper Blansett.

Pallbearers were his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were his great-grandchildren.
