93, Tylertown
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, in Homewood United Methodist Church Cemetery for Thomas Cooper Brown, 93, of Tylertown, who died on Thursday, Oct. 12, in Tylertown. The Rev. Milton Koon officiated at the services.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1924, in Wicker, Scott County, to the late Charles and Willie Belle Windham Brown. He was an active member of First Methodist Church in Columbia and Tylertown United Methodist Church. He served with the MerchantsMarines during World War II. He worked for Mr. Bill Walker as a buyer for Bill’s Dollar Store. In 1971, he bought and operated the Tylertown Western Auto Store. He enjoyed his work, gardening, hunting and fishing. Everyone that knew him said that he “was the salt of the earth.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 70 years, Mayzell Brown and daughter, Wixie Ann Brown.
Survivors include his son, Randy Brown (Peggy) of Columbia.
