Columbia Academy held its annual archery camp July 15 through July 18 and had a record 83 archers from nine different schools participate.
Archery coach Mike Barber said the school’s program and the instructors for the camp drew the record crowd.
“I believe this is a testament of where our program at Columbia Academy is at,” he said. “I believe we’ve built up a program that’s respected statewide. Not to mention our instructors were coach David Barbers, who has won eight high school state championships, Bailey White, the 2017 female national champion and myself. In four years, we’ve won three elementary, three high school and two junior high state championships.”
The camp was four days long and taught archers things like proper form and technique.
“We hope to continue to grow our camp each year. The biggest reward is watching a kid improve, gain confidence and smile,” Barber said.
