While they finally lost their first set of the season, the East Marion Eagles remained perfect on the season with tough road wins over West Marion and North Forrest.
At rival West Marion Sept. 3, the Eagles (6-0, 2-0) outlasted the Trojans in three difficult sets 26-24, 26-24 and 25-21. Destiny Brown paced East Marion with nine kills, followed by Lia Smith with eight and Dyani Weary, who also had six blocked shots, with five. Brown also led the team with five assists and four aces.
East Marion dropped its first set at North Forrest Tuesday 25-23 but rallied in the next three sets 25-11, 25-16 and 25-19 to win the match 3-1. The first set loss was the first set the Eagles have lost this year.
The Eagles return home Monday to take on Laurel before playing at Perry Central Tuesday.
