The Columbia 12u ozone all-stars will get the ball rolling this weekend in Hattiesburg in their first tournament of the summer.
The all-star team will be playing in its sub-district tournament at Tatum Park with two games scheduled for Saturday. Columbia 12u will take on the host Hattiesburg team at 10:30 Saturday morning before playing Poplarville at 4:30 p.m.
Head coach Martin Prejean said he believes the young sluggers are ready for their first challenge.
“It’s takes a while to get the team to blend. We’re returning eight players from last year, so we have a good core. I think we’ll get there and perform well,” he said. “The boys have been practicing hard, so hopefully they’re ready to play some ball.”
Columbia 12u includes Riley Bond, Caleb DuBois, Parker Earls, O’Ryan Fortenberry, Zach Lowery, Landon McNabb, Hunter Owens, Jacob Pace, Lucious Prejean, Lane Robertson, Jude Stringer and Ka’Ron Weary II and coaches Chris Owens and Billy Pace.
