SSG Philip (Chip) Forbes was recently awarded the highest state award that a national guard soldier can earn. On March 22, SSG Forbes received the GV “Sonny” Montgomery Patriot Leadership Award.
Each year one person is chosen from the Army Guard and Air Guard, in the State of Mississippi, to receive this high honor. The GV “Sonny” Montgomery Patriot Leadership Award recognizes outstanding patriotism and leadership within the Mississippi National Guard and in the community.
SSG Forbes is a husband, father, squad leader, construction supervisor, sheriffs deputy, and founder of Silent Battles, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness about suicide and mental health among soldiers and much more.
