Columbia Elementary students greeted parents in the carline Oct. 27 for its Teal Pumpkin Project, which advocates for students with special needs for trick-or-treating. Some special needs students are at increased risk of food allergies, diabetes, braces or a disability that would prohibit them from being able to eat candy. It seeks to be inclusive by putting a teal pumpkin with non-food items like bubbles, stickers, spider rings, etc. to offer an alternative to not leave anyone out. The kids love getting to advocate for other students. Students talked to parents as they dropped off students and provided them with the valuable information. | Photos submitted
