Freedom Fest draws thousands downtown

By all accounts Freedom Fest 2019 was a steaming hot success.

Downtown Saturday an assortment of vendors featuring all kinds of food, crafts, entertainment and much more, along with an estimated 5,000 to 7,000 people, endured mid to upper 90 degrees of bright and sunny weather to bring a great time to Columbia.

New curator leads museum

On the west end of Second Street sits an old train depot filled with vintage treasures.

The depot is now the Marion County Historical Museum. But now the museum has something new, a new curator.

National Guard facility closed since 2014 tornado

After nearly a five-year absence, the Mississippi National Guard Company Alpha of the 150th Brigade Engineer Battalion is coming home.

A ribbon cutting celebrating the grand reopening of the National Guard Armory in Columbia will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.
