Averett arrested for shoplifting

For the third time this year, Carlos Averett has been arrested for shoplifting from local businesses. Averett has been accused of entering local stores with plastic bags and filling them with merchandise while inside the store before attempting to walk out without first paying.

Grant and Sandi Grisham earned the title of April Yard of the Month for their home at 792 Mt. Carmel Church Rd. in Foxworth. Grant loves to make improvements to the property he has owned for more than 25 years. The couple puts on a wonderful Christmas display that is a must-see for the holidays. An awards presentation was held Friday at the Columbia City Hall to honor two firefighters and two Popeyes employees for saving a man who suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Brandie Leigh Ranes and Penwueli Pittman were given framed certificates from Chief Lyle Berard and Mayor Justin McKenzie for their life saving actions calling 911 and starting CPR. From left are McKenzie, Ranes and Berard. Pittman was unable to attend.
