The Columbia and Marion County school districts both fell from B to C grades under state ratings released Thursday, although Marion County officially keeps its B through an exemption.

Marion County ranked 57th overall out of Mississippi’s 147 school districts, while Columbia was 61st.

District to build new baseball dugouts

The Columbia High School baseball team will be getting new dugouts in the district’s first athletic upgrades in more than 15 years.

The school board voted Oct. 12 to take bids on the work in hopes of having it done before the season starts in February.
