Annexation hearing scheduled Jan. 22

A hearing about Columbia’s annexation plan has been scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Marion County Courthouse.

Anyone objecting to the proposal will be given opportunity to voice protests before Chancellor Deborah Gambrell, who is presiding over the case.

Lawsuit alleges man broke ankle in pothole

An 82-year-old man is suing Columbia after he allegedly broke his ankle by stepping into a grass-covered pothole on a city street.

Marcell Foxworth, 56 Less Hammond Road, Tylertown, is seeking $50,000, according to court documents. He filed the lawsuit Oct. 15 in Marion County Circuit Court.
