On Feb. 22 shortly before midnight, Lionell Peters and his fiancé were on their way home from Hattiesburg when they saw a Columbia Police Department cruiser traveling in the opposite direction. Little did they know that as they meandered down Evergreen Street, they were about to experience one of the worst nights of their life.
