Once again, it’s that time of the year when we need to report our ryegrass, wheat, oats, cover crops, and other fall seeded crop acreage to the local Farm Service Agency Office. Acreage reports document crop acreage history are needed for program eligibility and are used to make decisions about national farm programs. Acreage reports for these crops must be reported by December 15, 2024, to be considered timely filed. Interested producers should call their Marion County FSA Office at 601-731-5400 ext. 2 to make an appointment to file their acreage report.
To ensure Farmers meet FSA program eligibility requirements, all producers are encouraged to visit the Marion County FSA office to file their annual crop certification acreage report by the deadline of December 15, 2024, for wheat, oats, cover crops, and all other fall seeded crops.
Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) policy holders should note that the acreage reporting date for NAP covered crops is the earlier of the dates listed above or 15 calendar days before grazing or harvesting of the crop begins.
Landowners and operators are reminded that in order to receive benefits from USDA, compliance with Highly Erodible Land (HEL) and Wetland Conservation (WC) provisions are required. Farmers with HEL determined soils are reminded of tillage, crop residue, and rotation requirements as specified per their conservation plan. Producers are to notify the USDA Farm Service Agency prior to conducting land clearing or drainage projects to ensure compliance. Failure to obtain advance approval for any of these situations can result in the loss of eligibility and all Federal payments.
