The Marion County Sheriff's Office and Columbia Police Department have located human remains that is believed to be Delmar Lee Blake Jr., who went missing Aug. 1, 2023 in Marion County.
On Friday morning, the sheriff’s office was informed of a vehicle in a heavily wooded area in Lampton, according to a press release issued by the CPD. When sheriff's office and CPD investigators responded to the location, they confirmed the vehicle belonged to Blake, 79.
A search of the area led to the discovery of human remains, and Coroner Jessie Graham assisted with the recovery.
While the Mississippi State Crime Lab needs to examine the body to make a positive identification, the remains are believed to be Blake, according to the press release.
The CPD reports no foul play is suspected in the case, but the investigation remains open.
The CPD, sheriff’s office and Graham were assisted by Emergency Management Director Aaron Greer, the Southwest Marion Volunteer Fire Department and Beat 5 Supervisor Calvin Newsom.
