Angelina Hamel and Joshua Campbell were married on the evening of December 11, 2025, at The Marquee in downtown Columbia. Officiating the ceremony was Desearee Barr, the groom’s sister. The bride is the daughter of Blake Hamel of Flowood and Sarah Bassett of Meridian, Mississippi. The groom is the son of Michael and Hiedi Campbell of Slidell, Louisiana.
The bride and groom both attended the University of Southern Mississippi. The groom graduated with a degree in journalism and is currently the publisher of The Columbian-Progress newspaper. The groom looked striking in an admiral blue tuxedo, and the groomsmen attended in cool gray suits. The groom’s best friend, Cody Leake, served as the best man, while Jerome Walker and Justin Andry followed as groomsmen.
The bride obtained a degree in music education from William Carey before attending graduate school at USM for flute performance. The bride wore a floor-length, fitted silhouette wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline, detailed cathedral train and a complimenting veil, gifted by the officiant. Attending the bride as matron of honor was Jenna Davies, college roommate and close friend. Bridesmaids were Jasmine Tennis and sister Olivia Hamel, as well as Ivy Campbell and Kahlan and Kylie Hamel as junior bridesmaids. The bridesmaids wore elegant burgundy gowns that matched their individual styles.
The wedding party included two young nieces from both families, Ellianna Barr and Brynn Rayborn, as the flower girls. Easton Barr, nephew of the groom, preceded the groom as a flower boy and entertained the guests with his own interpretive dance. The ring bearer was the bride’s younger brother, Ryder Bassett, who took his role as ring security very seriously.
The ceremony was both a sweet and a humorous one. When the couple read their handwritten vows, there was not a dry eye in the room. The officiant made sure to add a personal touch that drew laughs from the guests as the groom once did as the officiant of her wedding. The room was decorated with white and burgundy flowers. Guests left audio messages for the couple to wish them well on their honeymoon and new marriage on a rotary-style phone.
Will Jordan Photography captured the evening with a wonderful set of candid shots that showcased the couple’s excitement. Maddox Home Bakery of Hattiesburg catered a three-tier strawberry and vanilla cake, decorated with pink and burgundy cream cheese icing and accented with strawberry filling. The groom’s dessert featured a delicious homemade apple cinnamon roll casserole, made with love by the mother of the groom. The reception was catered by Ben Whatley and his team at The Marquee. They served French dip sliders, perfectly seasoned chicken breasts and a baked potato bar, with slices of fruity cheesecake to top off the evening.
The night before the wedding, The Marquee also hosted the wedding party and close family for the rehearsal dinner. The catering included seared sirloin steaks and chicken breasts, as well as spicy street corn and roasted vegetables. The rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and reception were lovingly decorated by the families of the couple, including the mother and sister of the groom, the bride’s grandmother, Deanna Cornish, the mother of the bride and the bridesmaids.
The Campbells departed the next morning for their wintry honeymoon over the Lake of the Ozarks and now reside in Hattiesburg.
