Alyssa Turnage and Chase Slocum were united in marriage on November 8, 2024, at the Rendezvous in Sumrall, Miss. The wedding was officiated by Chris Turnage. The bride is the daughter of Jonathan and Angela Breeland Turnage of Oakvale, Miss., and the granddaughter of Frances Fitzhugh, and Donald Breeland of Oakvale, and Gerald and Pasty Turnage Oakvale. The groom is the son of Tina and Daniel Slocum of Columbia and the grandson of Louise Elkins of Columbia.
The couple held a small, rustic wedding outside with a scenic barn, pond and cypress tree in the background. The bride’s dress was an elegant open back with a lace train that had baby pearls sewn in. The couple chose burnt and rust orange, sage and olive green, cream and ivory colors. White drapes and a chandelier hung from the ceiling. Fall table runners, tin cans with flowers and wood slices adorned the reception hall.
The bride and groom also had a “Gone but Not Forgotten” table for the couple’s grandparents that have passed.
The couple joined their table together to hold their 3-teir cake that was white with roses. The cake was made by Jody’s Bakery in Hattiesburg.
The maid of honor was the bride’s best friend, Brooklyn, and the matron of honor was her sister, Shelby Russell. The bridesmaids included Tailor Turnage, Madison Turnage, Amber Gill, Kaitlynn Schonewitz, Lexi Parks, Kinlee Pierce and junior maid Lillin Ginn. The bridesmaid wore a mix-and-match of sage green and rust orange dresses.
The flower girls, Kynslee Johnson, Everleigh Russell and Haiden Taylor, wore floor-length champagne color dresses.
The groomsmen included Trystan Turnage, Brady Turnage, Myles Sistrunk, Christopher Turnage, Colby Daniels, Carson Daniels, Zac Parkmen and Will Stringer. The brother of the bride, Brady Turnage, served as the best man. The groomsmen wore olive green vests with white button-up shirts and buckle jeans with boots. The groom wore a cream vest with a long, white-sleeve button-up and buckle jeans with boots.
Moree’s Florist of Columbia provided the bride’s bouquet.
The bride made her bridesmaids and groomsmen’s bouquets and boutonnieres. Music for the ceremony and reception was played by the bride’s cousins, Savanna Letchworth and Maci Peavy. Karli Bass and Lauren Chambliss did the bride’s and the bridesmaids’ hair, while Kathleen Elizabeth did the makeup. Destiny Hart of Wild Hart Photography, the bride’s cousin, was the photographer. Emery Pope catered dinner for the rehearsal and reception dinner.
The couple honeymooned in Hawkinsville, Ga. and now reside in Oakvale. -
