Monday evening, an alleged drunk driver struck an ATV, resulting in a 14-year-old girl fighting for her life.
The incident happened Monday evening near 1069 Pickwick Road in Foxworth. Allegedly, Jeremy Stringer, 35, of Foxworth was driving under the influence when he hit the ATV. The driver of the all-terrain vehicle, identified on several social media posts as Mia Trujillo, 14, of Foxworth, was dragged for nearly 50 feet.
Trujillo, the daughter of Tabitha Taylor and Salvador Trujillo, was airlifted to Blair Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson. As of press time on Tuesday, Trujillo was in critical condition and suffering from numerous internal and external injuries.
Stringer was arrested and charged with DUI mayhem and, as of press time, remained incarcerated in the Marion County Jail. Capt. Pete Williams with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the charge could be upgraded.
Throughout Monday night and all day Tuesday, the family provided updates and requested prayers for a miracle. Friends and family shared on social media many prayers and requests for prayer for her situation to take a turn for the better.
Around 4 p.m. Tabitha, Mia's mother, shared this post: “Tabitha Taylor asked me to post for her it is very difficult for her to answer and inform everyone of what is going on. Right now things are not going good. They are going to do a brain activity scan to see if there is any activity and they will go from there. She is on the maximum amount of blood pressure medication that they can give her. She needs prayers! We need a miracle for this baby!!!! As I get information I’ll do my best to update everyone! We love y’all!”
