Runners fight through tough conditions

Columbia Academy hosted its annual Caleb Coleman Invitational Wednesday and had hundreds of runners participating at the Columbia Water Park despite heavy rains Tuesday and early Wednesday.

The event began in 2009 but was renamed in 2012 to honor Coleman, a CA cross country runner who died in a car accident.

Cougars playing for district title

Although the Columbia Academy Cougars have actually only been victorious once this season and have lost four straight after their 35-20 loss Friday at Lamar School, they are only one win away from securing a first-round bye in the playoffs and have already qualified for the postseason.

Undermanned CA can't hang with PCS speed

Columbia Academy’s homecoming didn’t go as the Cougars hoped with Presbyterian Christian scoring early and often Friday night in a 41-22 defeat of the home squad.

The Cougars (1-5) were shorthanded to begin with going into the game, and it only got worse.

Friday Night Lights: CA falls to PCS, West stays perfect

For the second year in a row, the West Marion Trojans will enter Region 8-3A play undefeated after topping Vancleave 33-7 on the road Friday night. Meanwhile, PCS proved to be too strong for Columbia Academy to handle on its homecoming night in a lopsided 41-22 loss, and East Marion won a shootout at Bogalusa 48-44.
